Many times we want some randomization in our animations; one of the best ways to do this is with the noise controller. I use this technique a lot to make something shake or jitter, or have a more subtle effect like and object floating.    Let’s take the latter as an example as if we were creating a floating robot or security drone. We will use the Mighty Teapot as our drone, so go ahead and create one from the create tab on the command panel and drag it out in the top viewport. Once we have our teapot, select the motions tab, then the Assign Controller rollout, and select position Open the Assign position dialog and choose Position list from the list of choices and click ok NOTE: Now if you open the list you will notice an available slot is now present. This allows us to add a secondary controller on top of the default Position XYZ controller. Highlight the Available item in the list With the Available slot selected open the Assign controller Rollout once again, this time select Noise Position. The Noise Controller Dialog will appear, this I where you can set the options for the random movement. I chose to take off fractal noise to smooth out the animation, and set the Frequency to a low number like 0.05. I also dropped the strength of the XYZ values. You can repeat this process for the rotation controller as well to give a nice rolling effect as well. Please let me know if this was helpful via our comments section below.
