There are several ways to create objects such as a fence, grate or a cage in 3DS Max. When geometry is required nothing beats the lattice modifier in ease and speed. This modifier takes the segments or edges of a polygon and converts them into solid geometry.
Many times we want some randomization in our animations; one of the best ways to do this is with the noise controller.I use this technique a lot to make something shake or jitter, or have a more subtle effect like and object floating.
Obviously being a 3ds max guy, I miss some simple features in max when I move over to blender. One such feature is the “Target Camera” option in Max.There does not seem to be a similar option in Blender 2.49.
I will take the next few moments and to show you how to set up a similar function in Blender.
Ever wonder how those low poly items can look so good? One of the techniques to help reduce the look of hard, or faceted edges on a low poly item such as a game character is with the use of smoothing groups. Smoothing groups look at the value assigned to adjacent polygons, if the value is the same, the edge is smoothed, if different, the edge is left faceted.
There will be times when working in 3D Max that the number of polygons showing at any given time may be too much. This could be for various reasons such as, viewport performance, or just too much visual information to work with at any given time.A good way to fix this is the Hide Selected or Hide Unselected options under the Edit Geometry Rollout.
