Reference:

Before we begin any project, we need to gather any and all assets for the project. One of the most important, yet overlooked, phases of a project is the use of reference. Generally the last thing a beginner wants to do is “waste time” planning. Planning is one of the most important stages of any project. It will ensure a quality end result, and save large amounts of time if you know exactly what you want from the beginning to end. I took a few minutes and did a quick search for “castle” in Google and quickly pulled up several pictures. I chose this photograph as our main reference picture:

I have also gathered various others from the web and will be using those as well for additional information. You may want to do your own search; you can never have too many references.
